Alistair is a Specialist Trainee in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery based in Oxford, with particular interests in trauma, microsurgery, and limb reconstruction. He completed his medical degree and a BA in Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford.
Alistair is a committed medical educator and tutors undergraduate students at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University. He has played a key role in organising surgical skills courses and has served as faculty on several national and international teaching programmes, most recently contributing to a Hand Surgery Trauma Course in Addis Ababa.
A proponent of collaborative research, Alistair has been involved in numerous multicentre studies within plastic surgery, including patient recruitment for randomised controlled trials. He also led a national project focusing on the management of extensor tendon injuries.
In 2024, he founded the Human Factors in Surgery Network (HFSN), combining his interest in human factors with a trainee-led collaborative research model. Through HFSN, he aims to facilitate multi-centre research projects that enhance surgical safety and performance
